Since 1969, the International Telecommunication Union has commemorated the foundation of the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD). The purpose of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day is to promote awareness of the benefits that Internet and other ICT can offer to society and economies, as well as solutions to close the digital gap.
